Churros in Valencia for Cheryl's birthday in February 2019
Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is a blood cancer arising from plasma cells. At any one time there are around 17,500 people living with myeloma in the UK. It accounts for 15 per cent of blood cancers, and two per cent of all cancers. Myeloma mainly affects those over the age of 65, however it has been diagnosed in people as young as 20.
All the information you need about myeloma is on the Myeloma UK website, where the above text is from. They offer a phone line which gives advice and support to people with myeloma, and their carers. I've called them several times, which has proved very helpful.
My main ongoing issues are related to bone pain and the damage caused to my spine by the disease.
I'll make regular updates in the news section, more significant updates will also be sent to you by email if you subscribe below.
Over the weekend of 22nd/23rd June 2019 my good friend Andy Robertson ran an incredible 100 miles along the Dorset coast (yes, in one go!) in support of Myeloma UK - feel free to sponsor him in this epic challenge, or let me know if you'd like to complete or join in a challenge of your own.
